Babe and I just shared our first caramello gelato cone, which means that majority of her share found its rightful place on the edges of her mouth or dripped onto the fingers of her mother. Those same fingers that stick to the back of my compostable phone case as I type. To my surprise, the sugar rush was nonexistent after the initial excitement to have something mommy was having. It’s not like I don’t share my entire life and tits with her everyday. Her excitement has become very distinct and, of course, adorable. This lack of ability to contain her joy manifests as a scrunched nose and shoulders, and a wrinkled meeting of her eyelids. Occasionally a shriek will find its way out of her nostrils and partially opened mouth. I don’t blame her, it’s the first time she’s had gelato, and I’m sure it won’t be her last.
